| Details |
The Sony A57 is a 16 megapixel Digital SLR. This model is one of a
number of cameras from Sony to use translucent mirror technology. The
advantage this gives you over more standard Digital SLRs is that you get
faster focusing speeds and continuous shooting rates. With the A57 you
can capture shots at a speed of up to 12 frames per second. This speed
is around 3x faster than comparable models from Canon and Nikon. However
it should be pointed out that when using this fast burst mode
resolution drops to 8.4 megapixels. That is still more than enough
pixels for large sized prints.
Looking at the features on offer
and the price tag of the A57 this model is targeted at amateur
photographers who are looking for a step up from the most basic Digital
SLRs.
One area that has been upgraded from the previous model is
the movie mode. Sony have equipped the A57 with the ability to capture
Full High Definition Movies. You can record footage at a resolution of
1080i. You have a choice of recording speeds between 50 frames per
second and 25 frames per second. A microphone input socket is available
for attaching an external microphone to improve sound quality. A second
upgrade brings you an object tracking AF mode.
As you would
expect there are a range of manual exposure controls. These are
available in movie mode as well. Focusing features include 15 point Auto
Focus with 3 cross type sensors. |
